Oil Independence Day?

We are spending a few days traveling in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico and I found this great picture of a local hiking trail from Donald Peterson, abqstyle. Great shot Donald!
As we celebrate the 4th of July, I want to first and foremost say a big heartfelt "Thank you!" to the men and women who are defending our great nation around the world and here in the USA! Yes, the 4th of July is about our country's independence, but when you take a look at the world today, you will easily find many countries working hard to steal away our independence. And since this blog is about the American car renaissance, I hope our nation's leaders will begin to seek REAL energy independence from foreign interests. Check out this great article dating back to 2005 from the Weekly Standard. It's entitled the "Axis of Oil".
Some environmentalist groups, many in Congress, and countless lobbyists throughout Washington D.C. are trying to sell America on all of this new "alternative fuel" technology. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is turning to oil. Why? Oil is already here and we have plenty of it in our country and right off our OWN shores! So why are we not drilling? Hmmmm.
Today, the enemies of America are not poised with weapons drawn and bayonets held high. They are not wearing uniforms and amassing tanks and planes to destroy us. No. It's being waged in the economic theater. We had better start electing some REAL leaders in this country before we look back at July 4th, 1776 with longing because we are no longer INDEPENDENT!

I once was taught the 4 most common reasons an empire falls. Sure wish I could remember them! I think one was a mixture of languages, and that would make total sense - Tower of Babel?

Regardless, all empires fall. Empires are made up of fallen men, so it makes sense that the system will soon be fallen also. It's always just a matter of time. There's only one Kingdom that's eternal. The Kingdom of God, ruled by Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Long live the King of Kings!
